I don't get it

I got excited today because I heard that the Hollywood Video here in town is going out of business. Now, I'm not happy because they're going out of business because they're the last video store here in Rexburg! I got excited because that means their movies are for sale!

We went tonight to see if they had anything good, and they had NOTHING we had on my list. Either that, or the movies we wanted were still too expensive for us. Which means it was over $8. lol.

Well, I was kinda bummed, because I had made quite a list of movies throughout the day that I wanted. So we came home and I got onto Amazon.com, which is my best friend out here where Walmart is king. I was excited to find that a lot of the movies I wanted were less than $5, and a lot of the tv shows I wanted were less than $15. Sweet deal, right? Not that I'm going to buy any of those movies anytime soon, but just for future reference, it's nice to know that they're cheap!

Then I get to the Disney movies on my list. Even the used ones are still what I consider "full price" at around $16. I just don't get it. Why are Disney movies so expensive? I like them a lot, but I'd own a lot more if they were cheaper!

*sigh* Sorry. It's just frustrating. It'll be nice when Jason's done with school in another 3 or 4 years, and I can start buying the movies on my list, including the Disney ones.

Back again! And recitals

Andrew and I took a trip a week ago to Ohio to see my family. Mostly, it was because my younger sister, Carrie, is leaving for her mission soon, and she wanted to see Andrew before she left. She went through the temple the Thursday we were there, and that was really great. Now my whole family has gone through! (Except for the kids, of course.) Also, while we were there we saw a movie at the theater, and we went to the zoo. This is the movie we saw, and it was REALLY good:




I recommend the movie to everyone, especially if you're lovers of period movies like I am. Also, eventually, I'll post pictures I took at the zoo as well. Our desktop is having issues - again! - so I'm trying to put it off until we get it fixed. Who knows when that will be, so I may just have to give in and do it on Jason's laptop sooner than that.


It's nearing the end of the winter semester, and that means voice recitals! I accompany for six people in two different voice labs on campus, and today was their recital. I was nervous because some of the songs they had to sing were ones I'd been having difficulty with all semester, but we all pulled it off! I'm so relieved. There are only a few scheduled labs left in the semester, and I still have to play for their "in-class recital" (or otherwise known as their final), but we're nearly done. I'm glad for the experience, but I'm also glad it's almost over. *Phew!*


Other than those two things, not too much has been happening. We're still waiting to hear from the law school in Florida, and once we know for sure, we'll let you know.

Traveling, Random Story and Question

Hello there, friends! I'm writing this post from my hometown in Ohio! (Hence no pictures. Yet.) Andrew and I arrived on Wednesday afternoon, and will be here until Tuesday morning.

We came out because of my younger sister - she's leaving on her mission to Tampa, Florida, here in a few weeks, and we wanted to see her before she left. We especially wanted for her to be able to see Andrew, because by the time she gets back he'll be almost 3 years old. Isn't that a crazy thought? By the time she comes back, she'll have been gone for half his life. Crazy. Anyway, we came this particular week because she went through the temple on Thursday, and so all the immediate family was able to be there. It was wonderful.

We've been having a good time since we arrived. We've relaxed, gone to the temple, went to a movie (at the theater! That's the first time for me in a long time!), I got my hair cut by my sister Carrie, we went to the zoo, watched the first Rocky movie.... It's been great! I'll have to post a few pictures from the trip - mostly zoo pictures - when I get back to Rexburg.

Oh dear. My younger sister just got back from taking care of some pets that belong to one of the families in my parents' ward, and she told me that one of the fish is dead! They only left last night, so it wasn't Carrie's fault! lol. It reminds me of Ellie, a cat that Jason's family used to have when he was younger. Ellie was getting old, and so whenever they'd go on family trips, they used to joke that when they got home, Ellie would be dead. Well, one time they went on a cross-country road trip, and as they were driving back into their neighborhood, they started the normal joking about Ellie being dead, only to find out she HAD actually died while they were gone! The girls taking care of their pets were really upset about it, but Jason's family just expected it. While they were sad, they knew it was coming soon, so they weren't devestated. Isn't that so sad/funny?

Ok. One other kinda random thing/question: What is your opinion on making holidays special for your kids when they are little? I was thinking about getting Andrew a basket for Easter this year and getting him a few little things, but Jason just keeps telling me that Andrew's only a year old and he won't remember. What do you think - Is it better to save the money and not bother with a basket or anything, or to go for it and spend the money, even though they won't remember?

Hurray!

Just so you know, we finally got our desktop back. And it WORKS!!!! Hurray!

What that means:

• I can update the blog more often!
• I can put more pictures on here! (If I take them, I mean.)
• I can feel more connected to the world, and faster too, because the internet moves like a snail on the Wii.

Oh, I am so happy!

We finally heard from BYU...

...and we got a rejection letter from their school of law. :( Not the nicest thing to hear. That definitely turned my day (and especially Jason's) a little more sour than we had anticipated. We were quite out of spirits for the rest of that day.

Fortunately, the next day, Jason received an email from a friend who was attending a law school in Florida. He had forwarded advice and information about his school - Ave Maria School of Law, a Catholic school - through the BYU-Idaho pre-law society. Jason contacted him because the school sounded really nice, and wanted to get more information. The LSAT score Jason received seemed to be sufficient for this law school. It seems like the school is really friendly to people of all religions, and especially students with spouses and children. They generally have several activities during a given time for the families of the students. The campus is only 3 minutes from the beach (which I've heard has been voted the best beach in America by the Travel Channel!), and the town it's located in is mainly known for its tourism, so Andrew and I would have lots to do there.

So Jason applied to get in the day after he talked with his friend. It looks to us that there's a really good chance Jason will get in to this school, so if all goes well, we'll be moving to Florida in August!

We're really excited to hear back from the school, hopefully in several weeks rather than months. If we get in, there's really nothing stopping us from going there but ourselves. It's funny how a little misfortune can actually bring you something a little better fitted for you than you were originally planning.

I can't wait to take this kid to the beach!:
