One thing you're excited for

Sorry I've been mia lately. Because I have my phone (which I'm updating from now!), Jason has started taking the laptop to school.

Day 30 was supposed to be a few days ago, but here it is now:

Day 30 - One thing you're excited for

I'm excited to have our own house someday. Not only to have a place to call our own, but for what that would signify. It would mean we're done with school. It would mean that Jason has a good, steady job. It would mean that we've found a place we like enough to settle down and stay for a long time. Oh yeah, I'm really looking forward to owning a house someday!

Now, because I'm updating on my phone, I'll add quotes and secrets some other time. Sorry to disappoint! But enjoy the picture of my boys in the meantime!

Twenty-Eight and Twenty-Nine

"Cherish forever what makes you unique, 'cuz you're really a yawn if it goes." -Bette Midler

What makes me unique? Read Day 29!

Anyway, I feel like I've been away from the computer for a while, but it hasn't been that long. It's mostly because I got my new iPhone, and I can do just about everything I normally want to do on a computer on it! Hurray! Except for this. I don't think I'd want to update a blog on my phone. That would take forever. Ugh.

Here are some pictures from my phone that I've taken the last couple days:

Andrew eating his pizza for dinner last night

Rolos Cookies (click HERE for the recipe!)

Jason wearing his new glasses

My sweet Davey Boy (who is becoming quite the mischievous toddler!)
Fun stuff!

Day 28 - Somewhere you'd like to move or visit

This is easy. I would LOVE to move to the Washington, D.C. area.

I love it. It's beautiful in the Spring, it's beautiful in the Autumn, and it has such rich national history there. There's a major airport (so we can fly anywhere easily), and because it's the national capitol and a major metropolis, there is a LOT to do. I don't think I would ever get bored there with the kids. We'd take public transit everywhere, just about every day, and see EVERYTHING!!!! It would be like a daily field trip!

Also, I have these kinda romantic feelings about the New England area. Whenever I think of that area, I think of beautiful Autumns, preppy clothes, and school supplies. Don't ask me why... it's just what I think of! And I would love to visit there. I'd probably love to live there too, but since I've never been there... it's probably safest to say that I would like to visit first and see if I even like it, really.

Day 29 - Five weird things that you like

Uhhhh... ?

1. I love touching the fabrics of clothes as I pass them at the store. Some people say they don't like shopping with me because I stop and touch everything. I can't help that I'm a texture person!
2. I love the feeling of being able to breathe through my nose. I know that's strange, but I've had allergies since elementary school, and dry eye for a year or so, so my nose is ALWAYS running or clogged. I love it when my nose is clear and I'm able to breathe freely.
3. I like staying inside. Living in Idaho was a bit hard for me. There was a TON of stuff to do outside, most of which I wasn't all that interested in, and not much to do inside. I've never been much of an outdoorsy person. Mention "let's go hiking" + my name in the same sentence, and I might cry.
4. I like "stalking" people from high school on Facebook. But doesn't everyone do that?
5. I like the fact that when Jason and I go out to eat, I usually stick with something pretty safe that I'm just about definite I'll like, and Jason goes out on a limb to try something new. And that when the food comes, we both usually end up liking what I have more than what Jason has. Haha.

Secret: I don't like girly tennis shoes. Whenever I buy a new pair, I avoid all the women's shoes that have pink or purple on them. Usually, I like to stick with grayish shoes that have blue or green accents on them, like my current pair. I DO have a bright red pair of Saucony's, but that's about as "girly" as I'll get.

Being Lazy, and 25 + 26 + 27

"Get on your knees and pray, then get on your feet and work." -Gordon B. Hinckley

The quote has to do with something I don't like about myself. You'll see when you read Day 26.

Well. We're still sick. Isn't that wonderful? Andrew is feeling almost completely better, but he'll still just lay down on the floor every once in a while because he's tired. Poor boy. And my stomach is still acting funny. It's been acting weird for a week. I'll be fine for most of the day, but every once in a while I get an upset stomach, like my intestines are cramping up and it makes me feel like I might throw up. It's NOT fun.

And no, I'm NOT pregnant. So it's not morning sickness.

So really, we haven't been up to much since Sunday, just hanging out.

OH!!!!! But I do have big news - I'm getting an iPhone! I'm really REALLY excited! It's in the mail, and it's in Columbus now, so I'm hoping that I'll have it by this afternoon, this evening at the latest. I've wanted an iPhone for years, and now I'm finally getting one. Hurray!

Day 25 - Something you're currently worrying about

Wow, I'm almost done with this first 30 day challenge! But onto what I'm supposed to write about.

What I'm currently worrying about is what I've been worried about my entire life: my future. Now that I have a family, OUR future. I worry about Jason and his grades. I worry about having enough money to pay next month's rent and buying food. I worry about where we're going to decide to go after Jason graduates next year. I worry about what kind of house we're going to get some day. I worry about having my kids go to school in a good district.

That's a lot.

Day 26 - Things you like and dislike about yourself

I like that I've been around the same weight (+/- 5 lbs, depending) since high school. I don't like that my body shape has changed since high school, so I can't fit into those clothes anymore. I like that I can play the piano and have a pretty good singing voice. I don't like that I can't/don't practice as much as I'd like to. I like my hair when I'm pregnant. I don't like my hair when I'm not pregnant. Haha. I like that I've decided to work out. I don't like that I've never been in shape before in my entire life, so I have no idea what I'm doing, nor do I know what it feels like to be in shape. I like that I like healthy foods. Mostly. I don't like how I feel like desserts call out to me and I don't want to stop eating them until they're GONE and IN MY BELLY!!! Haha. Sad, but true. I like when I get a lot of things done around the house. I don't like that my work ethic only strikes me about once a week, after the dishes are piled up in the sink, the living room is so messy it's overwhelming trying to think of where to begin, and I have no more clean underwear so I HAVE to do laundry.

*sigh* Such is life, no?

Day 27 - A quote you try to live by

There are a few:

I like this one for when I feel like I'm not really good at anything:
"Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." -Henry Van Dyke

I like this one for when I'm not in a very kind mood:
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." -Mother Teresa

When I'm feeling down about life:
"In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." -Gordon B. Hinckley

Secret: I've been blogging since I was a junior in high school (I think. Maybe it was my senior year...). No, I haven't had a blogspot blog for that long. If you want to see what my life was like before I had this one, check out THIS blog! Unfortunately, my freshman year of college I went back and deleted a lot of personal information/embarrassing things I didn't want others to see, so it's not COMPLETELY true to how things were originally written, but still. It's pretty close.

Sickies + Days 23 & 24

"Concealing an illness is like keeping a beach ball under water." -Karen Duffy

Yep. You guess it. We have sick people in our house again. What is up with us the last 6 months? We've all gotten sick multiple times! Fortunately, the illness has only struck one of us this time (poor Andy-Pants) + me with a minor sore throat, and it involves no throw up. Hurray! Yes, that really is something to celebrate...

Day 23 - Something that you miss

Sometimes I miss my childhood. Having no one to answer to but myself. Having no one to take care of but myself. Knowing that if I messed up on something, it wouldn't have dire consequences for anyone but myself. Sometimes, being an adult and a parent sucks because everything matters so much MORE than it ever did when I was a child or when I was single. I have a husband to answer to. I have children that depend on me. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE my life. I wouldn't trade it for anything... it's just that I go to bed exhausted every night, but half the time I can't sleep because of worry.

Day 24 - Five words/phrases that make you laugh

1. Snogging. It just makes me giggle.
2. "Don't eat that - the cat licked it!" Oh, Uncle Bill. You used to make me laugh so much...

Oh man, I'm having a hard time coming up with these...

3. Jason once said, "Can you breathe out of your mouth better today?" He meant to say "nose". I was like, "Uhh... yes?"
4. Hubba Hubba!!!

5. "BAAZZOOOOOOOOMSSSSS!!" Thank you, Steve Urkel, for providing lots of laughter with that one!

Secret: I have dry eye, so my eyes water a lot (I know, it sounds like it shouldn't work that way, but it does). Whenever I yawn, sneeze, or laugh, my eyes water. I'm often afraid that when that happens, people are going to think I'm crying. I'm NOT! Although I do cry more now as an adult than I ever did when I was growing up...

20+21+22

"Do your bit to save humanity from lapsing back into barbarity by reading all the novels you can." -Richard Hughes

I've been reading again. Mostly short books on my Kindle. And the new books I got in the mail a week(ish) ago. There was this sweet deal on Groupon - $15 for $30 worth of books on bookcloseouts.com, so of COURSE I had to get it! These are the books I got:

Timeless by Alexandra Monir, Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend by Cora Harrison, and Tiger's Curse and Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck. Hurray!
Anyway, I go to the library. A lot. Jason doesn't like going too much because gas prices are so high and we have a van (which is, of course, a gas guzzler). I've been trying to convince Jason that we need a new, bigger bookshelf in our bedroom to keep our books out of the reach of the boys, but he thinks that if we want to keep our books out on a bookshelf and not in our storage, we need to read the books we own more frequently. So. To prove a point, I'm kinda going through the books we own (some of them, anyway) before going to the library again.

Oh, but I have to tell you about this one book I read recently! It came out last month so it's really new, and I read it before my self-imposed library banishment. It's called Edenbrooke. It's amazing! If you like Jane Austen or other Regency era-type books, especially one that's written in easier-to-understand language and is a little more laid-back, this one is for you!

Pretty cover, no?
Day 20 - Your fears

My kids dying. I know that's dramatic, but I fear for it every day, especially with the way they "play" with each other...

Spiders. For real. Especially in this apartment. Who knew that living with a huge field behind the complex would not only grant some privacy and quietness, but also humongous spiders? *shudder*

Falling down the stairs with a child in my arms.

Not being good at anything that's of actual worth in my life or the life of my family.

When I'm old and gray, looking back on my life and not being happy with the way it turned out.

What are some of your fears?

Day 21 - How you hope your future will be like

Happy. That I'll be happy with who I am, and the person I've become. Happy with the way my children have turned out (despite the crazy lady known as their mother). Happy with the home and relationship I've created with my husband. Happy whether we have money or not. Happy that I did all I knew how to do to the right thing.

I know that's vague, but I'm not really sure what the future holds, and I have a tendency to over-plan and be disappointed when things don't go the way I envision they will... so I'm being vague for my own happiness. :)

Day 22 - Your academics

I went to Avery Elementary School for K-2, Norwich Elementary School for 3-5, Hilliard Station for 6, Weaver Middle School for 7-8, and Hilliard Davidson High School for 9-12. I graduated in the top 100 in my class (out of around 450). I went to BYU-Idaho for college, my first year majoring in Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Performance, my second and third years majoring in Elementary Education. By that time, I was married and found out I was pregnant, and instead of going to school full-time for two more years (who knew music classes didn't transfer over to my Elementary Education major?? :p), I decided to get my Associates in General Studies to finish as quickly as possible. I graduated in July 2009.

Ta daaaaa!

Secret: Sometimes, I have a hard time believing I'm as old as I am. And that I'm married, and that I have two kids. I thought I was still pretty on-top of things, and that I was still pretty young. But having been called to be with the young women at church... I AM getting old. I was driving them around one time, and one of the girls said that they hadn't ever been in a van that didn't have automatic doors (the kind that have a button you press and they shut by themselves). What? Is that the norm now? When did I get so old? I'm only 25!

Way Behind!

"I would imagine that if you could understand Morse code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy." -Mitch Hedberg

Haha, totally random, I know. I thought it was hilarious, though.

I have four days to catch up on, guys. Sorry I went so long!

Saturday (Day 16), was busy. There was an OSU football practice that was open to students in the morning, but it rained all day long. We went anyway, and got to walk around the stadium and look in the locker room and press box. It was pretty impressive, even if we didn't get to see the practice (they moved it inside to a building across the street). After that, we ate out for lunch, went browsing around a few shops, went to the gym, got some groceries, and finally went home. It was a LONG day.

Day 16 - Something you always think "what if..." about

I literally just sighed thinking about this. There are so many things I would've done differently in my life if I could go back and do it all again. I was such an embarrassing child. I didn't know when to be quiet. I was so awkward around people for the longest time. I didn't know how to do my hair or look presentable for a long time either. But really, if I could do it over, my entire 6th grade and middle school years would be it. I made stupid decisions, lost a few friends (some my fault, some not), I got made fun of for the way I acted and looked... Oh, to do those years over.

Sunday (Day 17) was good. We went to church, made these really good BLTs for lunch (with basil and mayo), and ate dinner with the family. It was great.

Day 17 - Something that you're proud of

I'm proud of my husband. He works really hard - at school, at work, at home - I am just so proud of everything he's been able to accomplish since we've been married. He had a rough upbringing, and considering the person he's turned out to be and that he's done such good with his life, it goes to show that a good person can be made out of bad circumstances.

Monday (Day 18) was actually kinda difficult. I made an appointment for both boys with the pediatric ophthalmologist (kinda like optometrist, but they're the ones who do surgeries and stuff), and their appointment was yesterday. I took David in because when he had his tear ducts unblocked, they noticed he was really far-sighted. They wanted to check and see if his eyes improved at all. They hadn't. He needs glasses. Andrew needed the appointment because I'd noticed his left eye started to cross every once in a while starting a couple months ago. He got checked - his eye was crossing because he's ALSO very far-sighted. He needs glasses.

I know they'll be cute with glasses, I know, and I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it because it really isn't a big deal, but Jason and I were talking about it, and it just feels like a little part of their childhood is being taken away from them. Having bad vision and needing glasses at such a young age... how awful.

Day 18 - A problem that you have had

Having the motivation to clean my house, do the dishes, fold and put away laundry, vacuum, and do all the other monotonous things stay-at-home moms have to do on top of taking care of their children! My to-do list will never be done because it's all one big cycle.

Today (Day 19) has been pretty good. I took Andrew to the bounce house this morning, and it was pretty empty, which was perfect. When there are a lot of kids, they start kinda bowling each other over. Fortunately, this wasn't the case today. We came home, watched the little girl I babysit, and now we're just chilling while David takes his nap.

Day 19 - Five items you lust after

  1. Anything on my Treats board on Pinterest (I really tried to narrow it down so I could put a picture on here, but it was just too hard!)
  2. A library like the one in Beauty and the Beast (or like what I imagine the one in Pemberly would look like)
  3. A grand piano in my own music room
  4. A stomach that looks like this and not like this (and no, the second picture is not of my stomach)
  5. A Kitchenaid stand mixer

Secret: I think having two toddlers (well, a toddler and an almost-preschooler) is going to KILL ME. I don't have enough eyes and arms to keep everyone out of trouble, nor do I have enough patience to keep myself from snapping! Ahhh!

Days 14 & 15

"I am a deeply superficial person." -Andy Warhol

Random quote, just because I feel like it. I don't have anything to say today, so let's just jump right into the challenge, shall we?

Day 14 - What you wore today

Simple. Jeans. White tank under a light pink v-neck t-shirt... aaaaand that's all, folks! Well, that and the Gs, of course.

Day 15 - Your zodiac/horoscope and if you think it fits your personality

I'm a Virgo, born September 16th. According to Wikipedia: Virgos (astrology), Virgos:
  • are able to let go of past situations to prepare for the future
  • are marked by practicality and perseverance
  • have the ideal balance between ingenuity of mind, and sharp intellect, and the strength of will needed to see creative ideas through to completion
  • can be fickle and unhealthily restless, but its earthy traits steady the Virgo and and gives an excellent eye for detail
  • "Virgos are reputed to be adept at languages, to possess a love of literature, a deep interest in history and statistics, and a good memory for details."
  • are introverted
  • are reflective and receptive to the ideas of others
  • etc (look at the page)
I guess that sounds like me...? I'm pretty practical, but I'm not too persevering. My intellect may have been sharp when I was younger, but I'm totally out of practice with using my brain for more than remembering where the keys have been put and where my boys' socks' match is. I am NOT adept at languages, I do love to read (although I hate reading books I'm not interested in), history is interesting but statistics is not, and my memory is fleeting. Since getting married, I've become much more introverted. I've always tried to be receptive to other peoples' ideas, although when I don't agree with them, I try not to say too much because I hate confrontation.

So... I guess it fits? The description makes me sound much more grand than I really am, I think.

Secret: I'm afraid of becoming an "old geezer driver". You know, the people on the road that are old and wrinkly with their white poofy hair and thick glasses, driving huge cars and driving below the speed limit. Maybe that's why I'm a fast driver now - if I slow down in my old age, I'll still be going at least the speed limit!

Day 13

"To keep body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear." -Buddha

Say whaaaat? I'm updating for the 30 day challenge without having to post two or three days at once? I know, my friends, I am just as surprised as you! This is what happens when your husband goes to the temple and then has to do temple cleaning afterward!

Day 13 - Your opinion about your body and how comfortable you are with it

Oh boy. I've never felt comfortable in my own skin. Even when I was young, I was bigger than my friends. Except for a few months my senior year of high school, where I miraculously lost 10 pounds, and, of course, gained it back during Christmas break. I've never been very active (I trip over my own feet just walking around!), and I've never been in shape. My body has, since hitting puberty, always had a few more curves to it than I would've liked, especially now that I've had two kids. One of my feet turns out more than the other, my hips and thighs and waist are too wide to fit comfortably in my old jeans, my belly looks like a deflated beach ball, my boobs are huge, my upper arms jiggle a little, I feel like I have a double chin (although I know I don't... I just have some extra skin down there), and my face still breaks out even though I'm 25.

So... no, I'm not comfortable.

That being said, though, I know I'm not fat. And I'm working on getting down to a healthier weight and making sure my body is healthier. I've been going to the gym about twice a week for a month and a half, and while that amount won't work miracles, it's been helping my self esteem, knowing that I'm doing something to change how I feel about my body. I need to eat better (and boy, Easter didn't help things with that at all), but I think baby steps is the way to getting my body to where I can look at myself and finally feel satisfied.

Secret: If what I just told you about how I feel about my body doesn't count as one huge secret, I don't know what does.

Easter! + Days 10, 11, & 12

"Each of us will have our own Fridays - those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays. But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death - Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come. No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or the next, Sunday will come." -Joseph B. Wirthlin

Easter was wonderful! Except for the fact that my camera's battery was dead. :( So no pictures for YOU, my friends!

Not only was it Easter yesterday, but my older sister's baby, Zoey, was blessed in church! Her dress was made out of the material that made up my mom's wedding dress, and her bonnet was the one Susette wore when she was blessed. It was really special.

She was in the shadows because she didn't like having the sun in her eyes.
Not only THAT, but it was also my Dad's 63rd birthday! We had all of Susette's in-laws over for a dinner celebrating Easter and Zoey's blessing, but also celebrating Dad's birthday.

Happy Birthday to my handsome Poppy!

Day 10 - Put your music player on shuffle and write the first 10 songs that play

Well, just bear in mind that this isn't only my music, but also Jason's and music for Andrew as well...

  1. O Come All Ye Faithful - Amy Grant
  2. Butterfly Fly Away - Miley Cyrus
  3. Games - Jonas Brothers (I've actually not listened to that one before...)
  4. I Guess It's Christmas Time - N Sync
  5. Ave Maria - Josh Groban
  6. The Reason - Celine Dion
  7. Dear Goodbye - JC Chasez (I've not listened to that one either...)
  8. Speechless - The Veronicas
  9. Can't Fight the Moonlight - LeAnn Rimes
  10. Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful - Mormon Tabernacle Choir
That, my friends, is not indicative of what I actually listen to. I'll do a second list from my favorites list.
  1. Love is the Right Place - Bryan White
  2. I Still... - Backstreet Boys
  3. Goodbye to You - Michelle Branch
  4. Just Want You to Know - Backstreet Boys
  5. Tell Me On a Sunday - Andrew Lloyd Webber
  6. You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift
  7. From This Moment On - Shania Twain
  8. It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday - Boyz II Men
  9. Wouldn't Change a Thing - Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas
  10. Dream - Miley Cyrus
Hmmmm... I guess I need to go through my favorites list and delete some songs...

Day 11 - Your family

What about them? Who they are? And are you talking about the one I grew up with, or my own little family?

Here's the family I grew up with (plus two husbands and a 10-month-old version of my son, Andrew):

Hubby Jason, me, Susette, Josh (Suzy's hubby), Carrie, Mom, Dad, Andrew
And here's my little family:

Jason and me with our boys - Andrew, who is three, and David, who is 14 months old TODAY! This picture is a little old...
Day 12 - Five guys whom you find attractive

My husband, times 5! Duh. Ok, I know that's not what you're looking for. Here are 5 celebrity guys I can't help but drool just a little over:
  1. Denzel Washington
  2. Topher Grace (although I've only really seen him act in the movie "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton")
  3. Matt Damon
  4. Jake Gyllenhaal (especially in "October Sky")
  5. And don't laugh at me, but I find Ben Affleck really attractive too! (Especially in "Armageddon")
Secret: I've always wanted to be a good dancer. I have a good sense of rhythm because I'm a musical person, but I am not graceful at all. I think it'd be really fun to take lessons, but I'm afraid of being told by a professional that there's nothing that can be done for me... Haha.

Days 8 & 9

"There is one consolation in being sick; and that is the possibility that you may recover to a better state than you were ever in before." -Henry David Thoreau

Jason and Andrew have had colds for the last almost two weeks. David picked it up about a week and a half ago. And now I'm getting it. Joy!

But Wednesday night, David started acting really funny. He'd been pretty wobbly the last few days, acting fussy every once in a while, and biting on his fingers. We had attributed it to teething, but my mom said she thought he might have an ear infection. Nothing seemed very wrong, until Wednesday night. He just wanted to snuggle, and he was really warm. I put him on the floor tow lie down after he'd been laying on my chest for about an hour, and instead of getting up and doing his normal thing, he just laid still, whimpering every once in a while. I put him down 15 minutes early at 7:45, and didn't hear a peep from him until 9am the next morning! And then he took a 3-hour morning nap! I knew something was definitely wrong, so I took him to the doctor yesterday afternoon - he has a double ear infection! My mom was right. She knows when kids have ear infections. My younger sister would get them all the time when she was little. Anyway, I picked up his medicine this morning (dang it, having one car is hard!), and I'm just waiting for things to kick in.

Poor thing. Prayers would be appreciated. :)

Day 8 - What you ate today

Oh man. You had to choose today of all days, huh? This is NOT typical, I promise! When I woke up, I was feeling pretty sluggish from staying up kinda late to read this book, and I was NOT in the mood for cereal. So, what did I do? I ate pudding. Yes, my friends, pudding. And it tasted wonderful! Haha.

For a snack I had what Andrew calls a chocolate sandwich - a piece of bread with Nutella (or, rather Kroger brand Nutella) on it.

I should probably go on a diet...

Day 9 - How important you think education is

I think education is really important. There isn't enough money going into education. The kids aren't getting the resources and materials or opportunities they need because people aren't willing to part with a little money to help them out. When Jason is done getting his master's, we're hopefully going to move to where our kids can attend good schools, because they're not going to find that in the district this apartment is in! I know we're in a recession, and the economy is awful, but education is something that needs to be a priority in our lives. If we don't make it a priority, our future is doomed!

On that light note...

Secret: I have horrific allergies. No, that's not the secret, hold onto your knickers. When I was young, my allergies were really bad, and I felt stupid having to blow my nose all the time. Sometimes, I would say I had to go to the bathroom, just so I could blow it as hard as I wanted without people staring at me for making such a loud noise. I hated drawing attention to my stupid runny nose when it seemed like I was such a nerd already...

Suggestions, please! + Days 6 & 7

"I was always shocked when I went to the doctor's office and they did my x-ray and didn't find that I had eight more ribs than I should have or that my blood was the color green." -Nicolas Cage

I know, that was a really deep quote, that right there...

Ok. So. I'm part of this preschool group where 6 of us moms in our ward get our kids together once a week, and we take turns teaching all the kids a letter of the alphabet. My turn is two weeks from today, and the letter I'm teaching is the letter "X".

I don't want to do Xylophones because I would want to get a hold of one to have them play with, and 1. it would have to be free, and 2. it's loud. So that's out.

I don't want to do "X marks the spot", as in treasure hunting, because they just did "treasure" for letter T last week.

So, the only other thing I can think of are x-rays. Here's where I need your suggestions: what kind of x-ray activities are appropriate for 6 3-year-olds? I don't know what to do! Help!

Day 6 - Your views on mainstream music

I think mainstream music right now, in April 2012, is ok. I love the style of music - it's really fun and makes me want to dance - but the message of a lot of the music is horrible. It's all about sex! I mean, that's been a big topic in music for decades, but it seems like every artist out there has at least one song about it out there, which just makes me want to vomit. Can't people make great music that ISN'T about that, anymore? It takes some talent, but people aren't willing to put forth the effort anymore, I guess.

Day 7 - Five pet peeves
  1. Leaving the cabinets in the kitchen open. If you're going to open them, please close them. There have been way too many close calls with my head nearly colliding with the bottoms of open high cabinets. Plus, I don't want to see how messy the insides are all the time...
  2. When people misspell the word "congratulations". It has a "T" in it, people. Come on. Really, it's the same with all misspelled words and grammar mistakes. Oh, and "texting language", where you = u and later = l8r... don't get me started. Yuck.
  3. Crooked pictures on the wall. Especially on my walls. Drives me crazy! When I'm not at home, I have to fight the urge to straighten other people's pictures...
  4. Reading books where the main character does EVERYTHING I wouldn't do... That irritates me. I know that's what contributes to the story, but when just about every single choice they make is the one I wouldn't make, it's hard to relate to them.
  5. Ummmmm.... wow, I'm actually having to think hard to come up with more...  Ooh, I got it. Being interupted! I don't care what it is, I hate it. Unfortunately, it happens all the time to me, since I have kids... *sigh*

Secret: As a kid, I liked spiders. I thought they were really cool, especially daddy-long-legs. Now, they totally creep me out. I stopped liking spiders one day when my older sister sent me to kill one, and I didn't see it anywhere... until it was dangling right in front of my face. Yeah. Not cool. Oh, another plus - our apartment in warmer weather is practically INFESTED. I'm not looking forward to that...

It's not working out...

"Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another." -Walter Elliot

I need some help persevering!

Ok, contrary to what you might be thinking because of the title of this post, I am NOT giving up doing the 30-day challenge! I'm just trying to say that doing every single day might just be a *little* unattainable, so every other day(ish) may just have to be what I do. We'll see.

Today, I'm doing days 4 and 5.

Day 4 - Bullet your whole day

Ugh. For real? I don't think you want that.

  • I woke up to David crying.
  • We ate cereal for breakfast.
  • I finished this book.
  • We've played Angry Birds, Mario Brothers on the Wii, watched Donald Duck cartoons...
  • I've done a load of laundry.
  • I unloaded, loaded, and ran the dishwasher.
  • We ate lunch: a peanut butter sandwich for Andrew, and oatmeal for me and David (Andrew will NOT eat oatmeal, just like I wouldn't as a kid).
  • Aaaaand... now I'm here.
Day 5 - Things you want to say to an ex

Hmmmm... Maybe just sorry. Sorry that I had to end things because I felt it was the right thing to do, even though they didn't think there was anything wrong. Sorry that they didn't take things well when I broke up with them. Sorry that when I look back on the memories of them, I only think of the bad endings. Huh. It's funny how all of these statements fit with both of the boys I dated before Jason... Weird, no?

Secret: Someday, I want to be an amazing photographer. Despite this, I have this kind of irrational fear of attempting to learn how to use those amazing DSLR cameras (which, no, I do not own one of them). I can barely figure out how to use my simple point-and-shoot... How on earth could I possibly learn everything I need to know to take a decent picture on one of those crazy things?
