Temple Pictures + Day 28

"Let us be a temple-attending people. Attend the temple as frequently as personal circumstances allow. Keep a picture of a temple in your home that your children may see it. Teach them about the purposes of the House of the Lord. Have them plan from their earliest years to go there and remain worthy of that blessing." -Howard W. Hunter

Hopefully yesterday will help me put up a picture of the temple in our home!

A girl from our ward started having a photography group meet once a month. Yesterday was the first meeting, and she went over some of the basics of our cameras and how to take good pictures. I am a self-professed NOT-good-picture-taker, so I could use any help I could get. I still don't really understand a whole lot, but that's ok. Hopefully we'll go into detail a little more about certain things so that I can understand them a little better.

After going over the basics, we went over to the Columbus LDS Temple (which shares a parking lot with our ward's building, where we met) and took some pictures. Here are some of mine. Mostly I didn't mess with any of the settings, except the color setting. As I get better, I'll hopefully take a picture I'll want to print and frame and hang in our home. I hope you enjoy these in the meantime:

This one was actually from the Relief Society room before we headed outside.

Now what I'd really like to do is get my hands on some photo editing software, but unfortunately, that costs money I don't have and won't have for a long time... *sigh* Oh well. :)

Day 28 - A picture of you from last year and now - how have you changed?

Last year:
My older sister Susette, Andrew, and me at the Columbus Zoo, March 2010

Now (If I can find one...):

How I've changed:
  • I got pregnant
  • We moved to Ohio from Idaho, and being with my family has helped me find my sanity a little bit
  • I've tried to become more spiritually in tune, and reading the Book of Mormon in a couple of months and finishing at the end of December helped a lot
  • I got really sluggish toward the end of my pregnancy
  • Andrew has, since turning 2 years old, taught me how to have more patience!
  • I gave birth to our second baby boy, David!
  • I've been trying to find my energy again, especially since still have 10 lbs to go until I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight (and I'd like to get my BMI down to 22, if possible, because I'm currently considered "overweight")
  • My hair is a lot longer because my last haircut was given to me by my younger sister right around the time the picture from last year was taken. I would've had it cut since then, but she's on her mission and we can't spare money for a hair cut right now :(
  • No, I'm not wearing makeup in the second picture, and you'll find that most of the time now I don't. I used to not leave the house without makeup on when I was younger, and now I just don't have the time, more so now that I have two kids!
Ok. I think that's good.

Secret: I had ice cream for breakfast this morning... and yesterday morning.... :)

  5. Melody, I obviously have a lot to learn from you in photography. I love the angle's you captured. You really have an "eye" for good perspective and framing a picture. I'm really impressed! Love that class!
